I’m writing to tell you about my Boxer Boss. He is 11 years old.
A few months ago out of no where Boss came running through the house to where my boyfriend Anthony was sitting, and just fell over. I also was walking through when I heard Anthony’s voice and I stopped. I knew something was wrong. He repeatedly said his name.
I looked in the doorway and I saw Boss’s head hit the floor. Anthony had picked it up. I didn’t know then that he was doing CPR on him. I just screamed. I couldn’t do anything to help, seemed like what was forever but only a few minutes his son came to the kitchen and said he was breathing. So I walked slowly into the room Boss was panting really hard and didn’t know where he was I’m not sure he even knew us. It took him about 45 minutes to stand.
The next morning at 9:45 I was at the vet. He told me Boss had Boxer Cardiomyopathy and this would most likely be what takes his life. He prescribed him Sotalol 80 mg 1/2 every 12 hours and Rimadryl for his hips.
Since then Boss has had 3 heart attacks. We’ve had him back to vet they increased his heart medicine and pretty much said its only a matter of time. So now he’s restricted to a leash don’t get to run, go out of the house much at all. This bothers me so because I feel like he’s suffering until I put it into human form. What would I do if this was my mom? I would love and care for her until she took her last breath. The remaining time he has left with me he will know what he means and has always meant to me and he’s just as much FAMILY as the others.
His last one was a week ago and he hasn’t bounced back like before. This is something I knew I would face one day but I never thought it would be watching him just get worse by the day. I can’t keep him forever but I sure would like to he’s my very best friend.
So there’s the story of Boss and his illness, maybe someone can read this and help with their Boxer.
